Dodgers' Joc Pederson home for his birthday

Whenever the Dodgers are in San Francisco, it will offer Palo Alto native Joc Pederson a chance to be close to home. Being in San Francisco this week is an extra special treat for the rookie center fielder because his birthday was on Tuesday. This was the first time since he was in high school that the 23-year-old got to celebrate with his family, according to Rick Eymer of Palo Alto Online.
Family members who were in attendance at AT&T Park Tuesday night watched Pederson go 1-for-2 with a pair of walks. Although it might make Dodger fans cringe to hear Pederson talk about his baseball ties to the Bay Area, here’s what he told Eymer:
"It adds a level of excitement because this is where I grew up," Pederson said. "It's exciting to see family and friends who are happy for me. I grew up watching Barry Bonds here. This is the place where I came to watch major league baseball.”
The Dodgers will be in San Francisco again May 19-21.
