Crawford has been out since April 28, missing 75 games after tearing an oblique muscle on his right side. He played in 10 minor-league games during his rehabilitation, batting .353 between Class A Rancho Cucamongaand Class AAA Oklahoma City.

Manager Don Mattingly says Crawford is likely to be a reserve in his return to the NL West leaders, occasionally filling in for Andre Ethier in left field or Yasiel Puig in right.

Crawford is in the fifth season of his seven-year, $142 million contract.

Los Angeles also designated right-hander Preston Guilmet for assignment.
