Detroit's Zimmermann headed back to DL

Published Aug. 7, 2016 12:41 a.m. ET

DETROIT (AP) The Detroit Tigers are putting Jordan Zimmermann back on the disabled list.

Zimmermann pitched Thursday in his first start back from a neck problem. He was pulled in the second inning with a lat muscle issue, and manager Brad Ausmus said after Saturday night's game that Zimmermann would go on the DL. Daniel Norris will replace him in the rotation.

Zimmermann is 9-5 with a 4.44 ERA. After a brilliant April, his season has been knocked off stride by injuries.
