Denard Span, Yunel Escobar leave Nationals game with injuries
The injury bug must have been in the air Monday night in Washington D.C.
While hosting the Cincinnati Reds for a series opener on Monday, both Nationals outfielder Denard Span and third baseman Yunel Escobar had to leave the game prematurely due to injury.
The team announced after the game that Span was dealing with back spasms and Escobar suffered tightness in his left hamstring.
The Nationals will certainly do everything they can to ensure that the pair don't miss much time on the field, as they've been steady contributors to the team's offense all season long, and are hitting a combined .310 on the season with a collective nine home runs and 49 RBI.
Span has dealt with a bevy of injuries this season, and has been no stranger to issues with his back.
"We've changed programs, he's strengthening, he's stretching," manager Matt Williams said of Span. "The trainers are doing everything that can possibly do. We'll continue to monitor, continue to do what we're doing. Some days it's great, some days it just pops up on him."
Both players will be re-evaluated on Tuesday.
