DeJesus gets bizarre homer against Twins

Published Apr. 24, 2010 3:31 a.m. ET

Kansas City's David DeJesus had a rare standup, inside-the-park homer against Minnesota Friday on a ball that should have been ruled a regular home run.

Facing Twins starter Carl Pavano with one out in the sixth inning, DeJesus lifted a flyball to right that appeared to clear the wall and off a fan's hands for a homer. With the ball at the bottom of the wall right-fielder Michael Cuddyer initially didn't make a play, unsure if it was a homer or fan interference.

By the time Cuddyer realized the ball was in play, the relay throw was way too late to get DeJesus at the plate.

Twins manager Ron Gardenhire leaned against the rail on the other side of the diamond with a confused look after the homer.
