DBacks Hernandez hurt against San Diego

Published Aug. 27, 2011 11:26 p.m. ET

Arizona Diamondbacks reliever David Hernandez has limped off the field after a line drive hit him on the right leg.

Hernandez was hurt in the eighth inning against San Diego on Saturday night when a ball hit by Alberto Gonzalez struck him on the right shin. The ball caromed toward the line at first and Hernandez started to chase it, but gave up quickly and reached down to his leg.

Arizona manager Kirk Gibson and the team trainer came out to check on Hernandez, who limped off the field a few seconds later.
