The Arizona Diamondbacks optioned first baseman Brandon Allen and reliever Esmerling Vasquez to Triple-A Reno on Wednesday to finalize their opening day roster.

The team outrighted infielder Tony Abreu and released reliever Carlos Rosa for the purpose of selling him to a Japanese team.

Allen, who also can play in the outfield, had been in a three-way competition with Russell Branyan and Juan Miranda at first base. Branyan, who had a big spring, made the opening roster with Miranda.
