Collins on solving Mets' offensive woes: 'Only thing left is human sacrifice'

Manger Terry Collins has tried just about everything as his disposal to reignite the Mets' offense, but nothing seems to be working, which rendered him facetiously arriving at a final remedy after his team was swept by the Chicago Cubs.

"The only thing left is human sacrifice," Collins said after a 6-1 loss to the Cubs on Thursday. "So, we're going to have to pick somebody."

The Mets rank 27th in MLB with 276 runs in 80 games this season, an average of 3.5 runs per game.

In a recent 4-10 stretch dating back to June 17, the Mets have scored a total of 23 runs, averaging 1.6 runs per game over a span of two weeks.
