Colby Rasmus is eager to 'eat some gummy bears' this season

Every spring, players file into camp and deliver the same lines.

"I'm in the best shape of my life."

"Last season we didn't reach our goal. We have a clean slate this year and we're gonna surprise some people."

"I'm just excited to get back out there and prove last season wasn't a fluke."

It's all fairly predictable -- which is why it's funny to hear what Colby Rasmus told Evan Drellich at the Houston Chronicle about the upcoming season:

"My eyes, what I'm seeing right now is, I'm seeing red," he said. "I'm ready to go out there and beat some folks, win some ballgames, chest-bump with these guys, and eat some gummy bears. You know what I'm saying?"

No, Colby, I'm sorry I don't actually know what you're saying, but I do know I want gummy bears now more than I have ever wanted gummy bears in my life. Just an incredible line to start out spring training.

Rasmus has carved himself into the hearts of Houston Astros fans with these kinds of phrases last season -- a season in which he hit .238 with 25 homers. It was just a one-year deal, though, and now he's returning in 2016 on a qualifying offer.

If that gummy bear quote wasn't enough to win you over, Rasmus also ran a cattle farm this offseason:

He's definitely not your typical big leaguer -- and that's awesome.
