Cardinals return to 12-man pitching staff

The St. Louis Cardinals returned to a 12-man pitching staff for the time being, recalling outfielder Allen Craig from Triple-A Memphis.

Left-hander Evan MacLane was optioned back to the minors after spending only two days with the team and seeing no action.

The 25-year-old Craig made the opening-day roster for the first time and appeared in seven games, going 1 for 18.
