Cardinals C Molina to have sore right knee tested

Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina has returned to St. Louis to undergo an MRI exam on his sore right knee and will miss at least two games.

Manager Tony La Russa said Molina plans to rejoin the Cardinals in Chicago on Friday and is hopeful of playing then.

Molina, a Gold Glove winner, felt discomfort in the knee during St. Louis' 5-2 loss in Pittsburgh on Tuesday night and again on Wednesday. The problem developed after Molina jammed his leg while running the bases Aug. 26 against Washington.

Molina has started 130 of the Cardinals' 150 games, batting .262 with six home runs and 62 RBIs.
