Rickie Weeks and Carlos Gomez led off Milwaukee's season with home runs Thursday, the first time since 1969 that a team opened with back-to-back homers.

Weeks connected on the seventh pitch from Cincinnati's Edinson Volquez, becoming the first player to start a Brewers season with a home run.

Gomez homered two pitches later, making the Brewers the first team since the 1969 Reds to pull off the feat. Pete Rose and Bobby Tolan homered against the Dodgers' Don Drysdale on April 7, 1969, in Cincinnati to open the season.
