Braves prospect Matt Foley acknowledges life in a van down by the river

Catcher Matt Foley of the Gulf Coast League Braves (Atlanta's rookie squad) has major league aspirations and apparently is a guy who knows where he's been: living in a van down by the river.

Foley was born in April 1994, about 11 months after Chris Farley's famous Saturday Night Live character Matt Foley came to life -- a loud, confrontational and clumsy motivational speaker who would point to his own hardships to motivate his subjects. Now here's a glimpse at Foley (the baseball player's) bat, as observed by ESPN's Keith Law:

Apparently Foley has fully embraced the character, either designing or adopting this cartoon likeness:

Life on the road for minor leaguers isn't exactly glamorous so "van down by the river" isn't too far off for the time being. We'll be rooting for Foley to eventually rise to the bigs and urge him to adopt "Fat Guy in a Little Coat" as his walk up song.
