Braves activate McLouth from DL

The Atlanta Braves activated Nate McLouth from the disabled list Sunday after the outfielder missed 22 games with a strained oblique.

Utility player Joe Mather was designated for assignment.

With the emergence of Jordan Schafer as the Braves' center fielder and leadoff hitter, manager Fredi Gonzalez said McLouth would play in left while Martin Prado recovered from a calf infection.

McLouth hit .238 with three homers, 11 RBIs and two stolen bases in 48 games before his injury.
