Blue Jays release two-time All-Star Michael Bourn from Class A team
The Toronto Blue Jays have released veteran outfielder Michael Bourn, just two weeks after signing him to a minor-league deal.
The two-time All-Star who is known for his speed was cut after playing in nine games for Toronto's Class A team, the Dunedin Blue Jays. Bourn was playing relatively well with the Jays, posting a slash line of .257/.366/.371 in 41 plate appearances. He will likely seek a better opportunity to help revive his big league career.
Bourn, 33, was released by the Atlanta Braves earlier this month despite being owed nearly $15 million. He was cut before finishing out the final year of a four-year, $48 million deal that he signed with the Cleveland Indians prior to the 2013 season.
Last season, Bourn hit .238/.310/.282 with 17 steals in 141 games for the Indians and Braves.
