Blue Jays not worried about lack of saves
Think about this stat: Toronto Blue Jays pitchers haven't recorded a save since May 4, 2015. That was game 27. Today's game was game 61.
Despite these lack of saves, the Blue Jays aren't worried about it.
“That’s just another stat,” Steve Delabar told the Toronto Star. “Guys come in, they want to get their job done, get their innings in and put up as many zeroes as possible and, like we’ve done in the past, just pass the torch to the next guy and let him get it done. Everybody’s trying to finish their inning. Whether it’s the sixth or the ninth or the 10th or second, guys are just trying to get out there and get their outs.”
Even the position players are noticing. “It feels like it has been a while," Russell Martin admitted. "I don’t think I’ve ever been part of a stretch where it’s been that long just to have an opportunity. It’s funny, strange.”
As long as the Blue Jays are recording wins - and they just won for the eighth-straight game tonight - they likely don't care about the save column.
