Beckett thrown out from right field

Published Sep. 14, 2012 1:00 a.m. ET

Josh Beckett is not a fast human being, and it's probably safe to assume he hasn't been in quite some time.

In the American League, that's not much of an issue. Now that he's back in the National League, however, that could provide some problems.

It did just that on Thursday night in Los Angeles when the Dodgers pitcher lined one to right field. The ball got to Cardinals outfielder Carlos Beltran on one hop, and the outfielder used his cannon of an arm to make things interesting at first base.

He did just that, gunning Beckett down at first base for the old 9-3 putout.
