Bauer goes 6 shutout innings in Indians' tie with Angels

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) Trevor Bauer tossed six shutout innings and Jose Ramirez drove in a run as a Cleveland Indians split squad and the Los Angeles Angels played to a 1-1, nine-inning tie Tuesday.

Collin Cowgill doubled to reach base in six of his last seven games. He is 7 for 15 over that span after opening the spring by going 2 for 33.

Bauer gave up seven hits and struck out seven. He has allowed one run over his past 11 innings and has 12 strikeouts.

Angels starter Garrett Richards pitched a two-hitter over five innings, allowing a run, walking one and striking out four. Manager Mike Scioscia named Richards the opening day starter earlier in the day.

Rafael Ortega had three hits for the Angels and C.J. Cron and Geovany Soto each added two.
