Atlanta Braves News: The Morning Chop, Box Score, Playing Spoiler

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Atlanta Braves swept the New York Mets this week and it was wonderful! The Braves improved to 61-91 for the 2016 season and have now won five games in a row…three against the Mets and two against the Washington Nationals. Nothing like beating up on your rivals late in the season. Bartolo Colon really shut down the Braves, one run and three hits in the first six innings, but we got to him in the 7th inning. Braves scored two runs in the seventh, and a run in both the 8th and 9th inning to take the victory. For a full recap of the game last night, check it out here.

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: I saw this on the broadcast the other night and then on twitter this morning so I thought I’d share if you missed it. Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson was a superstar way before 2016. He appeared in an Aflac commercial when he was little and of course, he was playing shortstop. Catch the feature below.
Long before joining @Braves, even prior to @VandyBaseball days, Dansby Swanson was a star. In an Aflac commercial. pic.twitter.com/00POqNCk9e

These Atlanta Braves are spoilers. But what are they in the future?
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Sure, call us spoilers…I’ll take that term at this point of the 2016 season. The Mets stay on top of the NL Wildcard with a 80-72 record, but stay tied with the Giants and Cardinals with the Pirates and Marlins lingering a few games behind. Did y’all see that catch, tho? Ender baby! I kinda wish I had a camera on myself and/or many Braves fans when this happened because I know I jumped out of my seat.

No play mattered more Wednesday night than Yoenis Cespedes’s drive toward center field in the bottom of the ninth inning with two on, two outs and Cespedes’s New York Mets trailing by two. But up went Atlanta Braves center fielder Ender Inciarte, and down went the Mets.
Inciarte drove a dagger into the Mets’ playoff hopes by snatching what would have been a game-ending homer away from Cespedes. The catch insured not only that the Braves would sweep the Mets — a blow to New York’s wild-card hopes — but that Atlanta would have five straight wins over the Nationals and Mets, each of whom was trying to secure a playoff spot.
The victory means the Braves are one win closer to staving off a 100-loss season, something that hasn’t happened in Atlanta since 1988. Curiously, that matters to some Atlanta executives.
