A's Crisp out with broken left pinkie

Published Sep. 19, 2010 6:23 p.m. ET

Oakland outfielder Coco Crisp was held out of the Athletics' lineup Sunday after breaking his left pinkie in Saturday's loss at Minnesota.

Oakland manager Bob Geren said Crisp's long-term status will be determined after he sees a hand specialist early this week.

Crisp broke the finger sliding into third base during the sixth inning Saturday. Crisp opened the season on the disabled list after breaking the same finger while sliding into second base during an exhibition game.

Crisp is batting .279 with eight home runs and 38 RBIs. Since the beginning of August, however, he is hitting .304 as the Athletics have tried to stay alive in the AL West race.
