Angels 7, Indians 6

Cleveland pitcher Erik Stiller overthrew first base to allow Mike Trout to score the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Los Angeles Angels a 7-6 win over the Indians on Thursday.

Efren Navarro's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth gave the Angels a 6-5 lead, but John Drennan hit Trevor Reckling's first pitch over the wall in right field in the top of the ninth.

Angels starter Matt Palmer allowed four earned runs in 3 1-3 innings.

Shin-Soo Choo homered off Palmer in the first inning, and Cleveland starter Aaron Laffey allowed five hits and three runs in three innings.

Palmer broke through in 2009 with an 11-2 record and a 3.93 ERA in 40 appearances and 13 starts for the Angels. He will head to Los Angeles Thursday to join the rest of the team but isn't expecting to begin the season in the majors.

``They haven't told me anything,'' Palmer said, one of many young Angels players over the past few years who might have gotten more playing time with smaller-market teams. ``I probably would have gone up quicker but that's not for me to think about. That stuff doesn't bother me one bit. If you do well, they'll give you a chance.''

Reckling five innings and allowed five hits and two runs, one earned, winning in relief.
