Angels 2B Howie Kendrick out with sore right knee

Published Aug. 31, 2012 12:25 a.m. ET

Angels second baseman Howie Kendrick has left Los Angeles' game against Boston in the third inning with a sore right knee.

Kendrick was replaced by pinch-hitter Alberto Callaspo on Thursday night.

The Angels didn't immediately say when Kendrick had been hurt. Kendrick flied out to center in the first inning, which means his 15-game hitting streak ends.

Callaspo singled after replacing Kendrick, driving in Albert Pujols to push the Angels' lead over the Red Sox to 4-1.
