Aaron Harang stays hot despite Phillies loss

Published May. 20, 2015 6:04 a.m. ET

Philadelphia Phillies starter Aaron Harang received a no-decision for his outing against the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday, but that hardly put a dent in his terrific start to the 2015 season.

Harang gave up three runs, all of which were unearned, but only surrendered three hits, striking out the Rockies seven times.

Tuesday was yet another solid outing for the 37-year-old veteran, who joined the Phillies for his 14th season in the majors.

Barring an Apr. 29 start in which he gave up nine hits and five earned runs, Harang hasn't given up more than three earned runs in a start, putting up goose eggs in the column in three starts.

"The starting pitching has been a key," manager Ryne Sandberg said. "They've set a good tone. They've shown improvements with their outings. I think, in some regards, Cole [Hamels] and Harang are the anchors to that, and the others have kind of joined in."

Harang, whose career earned run average is 4.15, now holds a laudable 1.82 earned run average after nine starts.
