A-Rod now says he's not retiring, comments were taken out of context

You can hold off any farewell tours for Alex Rodriguez, at least not for some time. The New York Yankees slugger told the New York Post that his earlier comments Wednesday were not hinting at his retirement in 2017.

"I'm thinking in terms of my contract, which ends in 2017," A-Rod told the Post. "After that, we'll see what happens. I've got two years and more than 300 games to play."

Earlier Wednesday, Rodriguez alluded that 2017 would be his final year in the majors.

"I won't play after next year," Rodriguez told ESPN. "I've really enjoyed my time. For me, it is time for me to go home and be dad."

Rodriguez is still playing under his 10-year, $275 million deal, which will expire in 2017. He has 687 homers and might challenge Barry Bonds' all-time record of 762. Rodriguez had a bounce-back year in 2015, hitting 33 homers and driving in 86 runs.
