4 suspects plead not guilty in baseball prospect's shooting

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) Four people have pleaded not guilty to charges in connection with the shooting death of a baseball prospect in suburban New York City last September.

Seventeen-year-old Nashaun Hunter is charged with second-degree murder and the three other defendants face assault charges.

Authorities say the shooting outside a Burger King parking lot in Yonkers stemmed from a drag racing dispute.

Prosecutors say Michael Nolan was standing outside his car when the suspects drove up and Hunter fired several shots, hitting Nolan once in the head.

The suspects entered the pleas Thursday at their arraignment in Westchester County Court.

The Oakland Athletics drafted Nolan, a Yonkers native, out of Oklahoma City University. He was placed on the restricted list in July 2014, and never pitched in an official Minor League game.
