Back with PSG Hernandez is back with the PSG squad following the World Cup, according to the club.

Impact Hernandez recorded three assists across 25 Ligue 1 appearances last season, primarily serving as the backup to Nuno Mendes at left back, and closed his campaign with France, although he didn't feature at the World Cup. His return to club training now shifts focus to preseason preparations as he looks to continue in his depth role behind Mendes and newcomer Lucas Digne.

Delivers one assist Hernandez assisted once to go with one shot (one on goal) and one chance created in Sunday's 1-0 victory against Brest.

Impact Hernandez anchored a back four that kept a clean sheet against a Brest side with little to play for, contributing in transition to support Bradley Barcola's runs down the left flank throughout Sunday's 1-0 win while providing the defensive solidity that allowed his side to control the match. The French international was one of the most experienced players on the pitch in a rotated lineup, winning his duels and adding the assist on Desire Doue's late winner. Hernandez has recorded three assists across 24 Ligue 1 appearances this season, primarily operating as the backup to Nuno Mendes at left-back.

Rotational pick Hernandez has started in 14 of his 18 appearances this season, in between going unused.

Impact Hernandez is back in the rotational defensive role he has served the past few years, still seeing enough time to get by as a starter but going unused quite often. However, his role becomes clearer when looking at his UCL outlook, yet to see a start in the competition, and instead mainly remaining on the bench. A return to a regular, everyday starting role seems unlikely for the defender, serving behind Marquinhos and Willian Pacho, and competing with Illia Zabarnyi for the backup role.

Delivers one assist Hernandez assisted once to go with two shots (one on goal), four crosses (one accurate) and one chance created in Saturday's 3-0 victory against Metz.

Impact Hernandez made his first start in a month and provided an assist to Goncalo Ramos following a high press in Saturday's win over Metz, adding a season-high four crosses, one key pass and two shots. The defender had logged just 15 total minutes over the previous five matches but capitalized on Nuno Mendes' rest to showcase his value as a reliable backup option ahead of the upcoming fixtures.

Suspension cleared Hernandez has served his three-game Champions League ban and is available again going forward.

Impact Hernandez could see some action in both domestic and continental play, though he has been more of a rotational player throughout the campaign. The defender, who contributed one assist over his last five Ligue 1 appearances, will add depth behind Nuno Mendes at left-back.

Suspended three games Hernandez will be suspended for three Champions League games following his red card for violent conduct during the clash against Tottenham, according to UEFA.

Impact Hernandez assaulted Xavi Simons during the clash against Tottenham and was sent off with a red card. The defender will now face a three match ban and therefore miss the remaining games of the league phase against Athletic Club on Wednesday, Sporting CP on Jan. 20 and Newcastle on Jan. 28. That said, the Frenchman has always been a bench option for PSG this season in the Champions League, therefore his absence won't impact the starting XI.

Provided one assist against Rennes Hernandez (suspension) assisted once to go with zero corners and two chances created in Saturday's 5-0 victory versus Rennes.

Impact Hernandez took advantage of Nuno Mendes' absence due to a thigh injury to start his second consecutive match against Rennes on Saturday, helping his team open the scoring by providing his first assist of the season to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and matching his season-high with two chances created. The left-back, who has only two assists since arriving in 2023, remains a backup option when the full squad is available, so decisive contributions like this are unlikely to be frequent.

Shown red Wednesday Hernandez was shown a straight red card during Wednesday's 5-3 win over Tottenham.

Impact Hernandez was shown a straight red card in the closing stages of Wednesday's clash for an elbow. It was a moment of madness from the defender, who is now going to be suspended for at least one match. He's been a rotational option this season, and this red card isn't going to do anything to move him ahead of Nuno Mendes in the pecking order.

Falls to rotational role Hernandez started in 10 of his 16 appearances in Ligue 1.

Impact Hernandez saw a drop-off in time this season as he appeared to take on more of a rotational role, only seeing the field in about half of the club's matches this campaign. This comes after seeing the majority of a starting role last season, although Nuno Mendes now holds most of the time at left-back. He is in year three of five on his contract with PSG, so he should return to that role next season, likely to remain their first or second option off the bench in the defense.

Struggling for time Hernandez has only started in one of his last seven appearances on the team sheet and has only started six of his 24 appearances this season.

Impact Hernandez has seen a major drop in minutes this season after the addition of Willian Pacho to the starting XI, with Hernandez only appearing in about half of their matches this season to this point. More recently, he has struggled to see the field at all, going unused in five of their past nine games. He looks likely to remain in a rotational role, seeing starts here and there with majority of his time coming from the bench.

Standout defensive performer Hernandez registered one shot (zero on goal) in Saturday's 1-0 victory versus Toulouse.

Impact Hernandez led the Paris Saint-Germain defensive effort Saturday with five clearances while also making three tackles (two won) and one block in their 1-0 victory over Toulouse. After an extended injury absence to begin the season, Hernandez has made just five starts over his first 10 appearances this season. Saturday marked the first occasion on which the veteran defender played the full 90 minutes.

Makes squad list Hernandez (knee) is on the squad list for Tuesday's game against Salzburg.

Impact Hernandez could be in for a return during UCL play, as he has been named to the squad list. This would be great news for the club, as they could gain back an important player after he missed out a long time with a knee injury. He will probably won't be fit enough to start in the XI right away but could see some minutes as a center back or left back in the second half.

Impact Hernandez looks to be in for a possible return already despite the defender being thought to need at least another few months before being fit. However, he is now back in team training and questionable just seven months after tearing his ACL. Even if he is an option, a bench spot is all he will earn, as he would be lucky to even see time.

DECEMBER 5, 2024 • ROTOWIRE

Back in gym Hernandez (knee) was back in the gym working on his rehabilitation, according to his club.

Impact Hernandez has received his first significant update since tearing his ACL, with the defender having worked out in the gym Wednesday. This is positive news for the player, although he is still a far way out from a return, probably not having the chance to return until February or March.

SEPTEMBER 4, 2024 • ROTOWIRE

Tears ACL Hernandez has suffered a torn ACL during Wednesday's loss to Borussia Dortmund and is set to undergo surgery, ruling him out for the rest of 2024.

Impact This is very tough news for Hernandez, who will not only miss the rest of the season, but the rest of the year after tearing his ACL. This also rules him out of the Euros with France, having won the World Cup with the nation back in 2018. The defender will end the season making 33 starts in 38 appearances in both league play and European competitions, scoring twice with one assist while totaling 52 clearances, 67 tackles (46 won), 27 crosses (two accurate) while making five blocks while holding onto four clean sheets.

MAY 2, 2024 • ROTOWIRE

Forced off early Hernandez was forced off with an apparent injury during the first half of Wednesday's clash with Dortmund.

Impact Hernandez was holding his leg after a lunging tackle, and had to be brought off for Lucas Beraldo. It wasn't clear what the exact injury was for Hernandez, but this sort of tackle implies a groin issue. Any sort of muscle injury puts Hernandez at risk to miss the remainder of the season with less than a month to play.
