Impact
Hernandez looks poised to return to the pitch and make his debut for PSG in the season opener versus Lorient on Aug. 12. Transfers to PSG
Hernandez (knee) has signed a five-year contract with PSG after transferring from Bayern Munich, the club announced Sunday.
Impact
Hernandez has tallied two goals and eight assists across 107 appearances for Bayern since joining in Summer 2019, not to mention winning four Bundesliga titles and the 2019/20 Champions League with the club as well. But the 27-year-old World Cup winner has been plagued by injuries and only reached 20 league starts one time across his four seasons in Germany. He's now moving to PSG off the back of the torn ACL he suffered in November, where he will compete with Marquinhos, Milan Skriniar and Presnel Kimpembe (Achilles) for starts in central defense, or with Nuno Mendes and Juan Bernat at left-back.

Never returns to pitch
Hernandez (knee) failed to rejoin the squad after suffering a knee injury at the World Cup.
Impact
Hernandez saw action in a mere nine contests this season, including a pair of UCL contests, in which he recorded one goal on one shot, 13 interceptions and eight clearances. Given a 6-9 month recovery timeline after ACL surgery, the defender may be hard-pressed to be ready to play in the season opener of the 2023-24 campaign. Even if he is healthy, Hernandez is far from a lock for the starting XI.

Major knee injury confirmed
Hernandez has suffered an ACL tear in his right knee, France announced.
Impact
Hernandez played just 13 minutes before spraining his knee against Australia. He will miss the rest of the World Cup and potentially the remainder of the season, as he'll need at least five-to-six months to recover, and perhaps longer depending on how the rehab goes. Theo Hernandez will take over the left-back position for France, while Dayot Upamecano, Matthijs De Ligt, and Benjamin Pavard will get regular minutes as center-backs at Bayern Munich if they don't sign a new option in January.

Impact
Hernandez fits the bill for all signs of a potential ACL injury and Deschamps' outlook gives no positive twist. If Hernandez has an ACL injury it's likely that his World Cup, and season with Bayern Munich, are over. Theo Hernandez would take Lucas' spot for France, while Dayot Upamecano and Matthijs De Ligt would stay in the starting XI for Bayern Munich.

Brought off with leg injury
Hernandez was brought off with a leg injury early in the first half of Tuesday's clash with Australia.
Impact
Hernandez went down holding his knee and lower leg and is just barely making his way back from a groin injury. Hernandez was replaced by Theo Hernandez, who would have immediate upside at left-back for Les Bleus. Hernandez will hope to return during the World Cup, though with any sort of leg or knee injury there is concern for a long time on the sideline.

Out against Inter Milan
Hernandez (groin) won't be fit for Tuesday's match against Inter Milan but could return by Saturday's trip to Hertha Berlin, according to manager Julian Nagelsmann.
Impact
Hernandez will have missed 10 straight matches following Tuesday's game, as a torn adductor muscle is cutting his participation in the World Cup down to the final moments. When Hernandez is fit enough to start, he'll compete for minutes with Matthijs De Ligt and Dayot Upamecano, allowing Benjamin Pavard to move back to the right side.

Training with ball
Hernandez is training with the ball, but isn't expected back until a Nov. 8 clash with Werder Bremen, tz.de reports.
Impact
Hernandez is back training with the ball and is beginning to run intensively. That said a return before the World Cup break is uncertain, though with no set-backs the defender is targeting a return against Werder Bremen on Nov. 8. Dayot Upamecano and Matthijs De Ligt would likely remain in the starting XI, though Hernandez would provide much needed depth in the hectic period expected after the World Cup.
