Report: Bengals' A.J. Green will play out final year of contract

While Dez Bryant and Demaryius Thomas hold out for more riches, Bengals receiver A.J. Green will play out the final year of his contract for the 2015 season.

Green, who will earn $10.1 million on his fifth-year option, will hold off negotiations for a long-term deal until after the season, according to a report from NFL.com. Green's decision shouldn't come as a surprise, considering he said just last week he wasn't worried about money.

"I don't get into all the 'I need a contract' stuff," Green said per ESPN.com. "I'm not here for money. I'm not broke. So I'm fine. I can wait until the end of the year to get a contract, but I know that time is coming."

While contract talks for Bryant and Thomas seem to grow more contentious by the day, Green is laying low and staying the course. Waiting things out also allows Bryant and Thomas to set the market for top-tier receivers. Playing under a one-year deal is always an injury risk, but we'll see if the strategy pay or if the Bengals decide to drop the franchise tag on Green next season.
