William Watson III - Healthy scratch at Vanderbilt Watson (undisclosed) was a healthy scratch during Virginia Tech's 34-27 loss Saturday at Vanderbilt.
Impact According to Kolby Crawford of 247Sports.com, Watson participated in Virginia Tech's team practice Tuesday. But as the current Hokies' tertiary quarterback, he is not expected to play much or any football. Dariyan Wiley - DNP vs. Virginia Tech Wiley (hamstring) did not play during the Commodores' 34-27 win Saturday against Virginia Tech.
Impact Even though the 2024 Commodores' first game required overtime, they limited their number of wide receivers to five, not including Wiley. If the team does not publicize an update of his status within a week, he is expected to be out until further notice.

Benji Gosnell - Targeted frequently in loss Gosnell reeled in 4 of 7 targets for 61 yards during Saturday's 34-27 overtime defeat against Vanderbilt.
Impact Gosnell's 61 yards were a good start to his season, but even more promising is the fact that quarterback Kyron Drones looked his way seven times. That seems to indicate Gosnell has a big year as a security blanket for his quarterback on the horizon. Gosnell is also the undisputed top tight end for the Hokies, which helps matters even more.

Jaylin Lane - Sees six targets Lane tallied four receptions (on six targets) for 62 yards during Saturday's 34-27 overtime defeat against Vanderbilt.
Impact Lane was looked at plenty by quarterback Kyron Drones, which is a good sign for the receiver moving forward. Lane should continue to be a staple of this passing attack, and he'll look to continue building chemistry with Drones next week against a much weaker foe in Marshall.

Stephen Gosnell - Solid receiving output Gosnell hauled in 3 of 4 targets for 72 yards during Saturday's 34-27 overtime loss versus Vanderbilt.
Impact Gosnell was solid as a receiver in Week 1. He did plenty with his four targets, and should continue to be a factor for this offense moving forward. If he can continue to develop chemistry with Kyron Drones, he could become a regularly dangerous receiver in this offense.
