Seminoles score four on preseason watch lists

Florida State scored four players on two of college football’s premier watch lists as Jalen Ramsey and Terrance Smith were named to the Bednarik Award watch list, and Everett Golson and Dalvin Cook landed on the Maxwell Award watch list.

The Bednarik Award has been given out annually since 1995 and is presented to the top defensive player in college football, while the Maxwell Award dates back to 1937 and is handed out to the college football player of the year.

Ramsey, a 6-1, 201-pound rising junior, has played corner and safety for FSU and is expected to play corner this season. In 2014, Ramsey played the “star” position and was named to the all-ACC first team.

Smith is a 6-4, 231-pound rising redshirt senior linebacker who finished third on the team in tackles in 2014 with 87. Despite missing two games, Smith earned all-ACC second-team honors.

Standing at 6-0, 203 pounds, running back Dalvin Cook was a freshman sensation last season. The shifty running back galloped for 1,008 yards and eight touchdowns on just 170 attempts and figures to be a key factor in FSU’s offense this season.

Also expected to play a major role in the Seminoles offense is senior Notre Dame transfer quarterback Everett Golson. Last season Golson completed 60 percent of his passes for 3,445 yards and 29 touchdowns, while rushing for 283 yards and eight scores.
