Cowboys' Bryant making 'great progress' from foot, ankle surgery

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 12:10 p.m. ET

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant is healing nicely seven weeks after undergoing surgery on his ankle and foot.

“All good with Dez right now. He’s making great progress,” Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones told the team's official website on Tuesday. “He went to see the doctor last week, and we got a great report.”

Bryant underwent surgery on Jan. 6 for a second bone graft on his right foot, which he broke in the season opener, and also had a bone spur removed from his ankle. He is expected to be ready for the team's offseason program in April.

Bryant missed five games after breaking the fifth metetarsal in his right foot in Week 1. He also sat out the final two games of the season with the Cowboys eliminated from postseason play.

After playing in all 16 games the previous three seasons, the 27-year-old Bryant was limited to career lows in receptions (31), yards (401) and touchdowns (three).
