Jurgen Klinsmann says he's not interested in the England job
Jurgen Klinsmann was linked to the England job all summer before the FA decided to hire Sam Allardyce so it's no surprise that after Allardyce was fired on Tuesday, Klinsmann's name popped up again. The bookies made the United States manager one of the favorites to be named the next Three Lions boss and many expected him to be in the mix for the gig, but Klinsmann took to Twitter on Wednesday to deny any interest or possibility of him leaving for England.
The United States will take on Mexico on November 11 in the opening match of the final round of World Cup qualifying. It's the biggest match that the U.S. will host in this World Cup cycle, so it's no wonder that Klinsmann is trying to keep focus on that match. When the rumors of him leaving for England popped up in the summer, he didn't comment on them because he said he didn't want to comment on every rumor from the papers. But with a huge match coming up, Klinsmann had reason to ensure there was no speculation as to his future this time around.
Whether Klinsmann was ever a candidate for the England job, be it in the summer or in the last 24 hours, is up for debate. Nobody ever reported anything that indicated the interest was serious from either side and it appeared to be nothing more than tabloid talk.
Alan Pardew, Steve Bruce and Eddie Howe are the remaining top candidates to take over England.
