Top prospect Eichel given Sabres shirt in awkward interview (VIDEO)
Jack Eichel receives significant media attention considering he is one of the top prospects in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, but the attention was all a bit awkward in a recent interview at the IIHF World Championships in the Czech Republic.
The 18-year-old is currently playing for Team USA at World Championships, and he is expected to be selected No. 2 overall by the Sabres in the NHL Draft in June. When Olga Khmylev, daughter of former Sabres forward Yuri Khmylev, interviewed Eichel as part of a behind-the-scenes package from the tournament, she nearly gave Sabres fans a glimpse of the future when she attempted to drape a Sabres shirt over the 18-year-old. Khmylev was quickly stopped by a man off camera who snatched the shirt away.
Eichel seemed to take the joke well, however, as he grinned broadly after realizing what the shirt said.
