Report: Jagr may decide within hours
Jaromir Jagr will announce a decision on his NHL future within hours, according to reports.
Jagr's agent, Petr Svoboda, told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review his client is flying to New York from his home in the Czech Republic and will make his announcement soon after he lands.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are believed to be the leading contenders to land Jagr's services. The team's offer is reportedly a one-year deal for $2 million. The Detroit Red Wings and Montreal Canadiens have also reportedly made offers for the former NHL MVP.
Jagr, 39, has spent the past two season playing in Russia's KHL.
The future Hall of Famer began his career with the Penguins, with whom he won two Stanley Cups in 1991 and 1992. He is the NHL's all-time leader among European-trained players in goals (646), assists (953) and points (1,599). His point total ranks ninth in NHL history.
The NHL's free-agency period opens Friday, and Jagr can't officially sign until then.
