Steelers take DT Nick Williams with final pick

The Pittsburgh Steelers have wrapped up their NFL draft by taking defensive tackle Nick Williams with their seventh-round pick.

The 6-foot-4, 320-pound Williams will likely be moved to defensive end at some point. Defensive line coach John Mitchell calls Williams a raw talent who plays quicker than many players his size.

Williams was a highly touted high school basketball player before converting to football. He gained 80 pounds in four years at Samford and Mitchell says it will take a while for Williams to adjust to the NFL.

The Steelers lack depth along the defensive line after veteran Casey Hampton was not re-signed.
