Detroit's 18-13 win over Oakland had 10 punts, five FGs and a safety
The highlight-reel plays were few and far between in the Detroit Lions' 18-13 win over the Oakland Raiders on Sunday. The plays that decided the game were mostly unheralded, hidden in the stat book.
For example, the game featured 10 punts -- five from Detroit's Sam Martin, five from Oakland's Marquette King. Although King's 66-yard boot was the longest punt of the game, Martin posted a slightly better average of 47.6 yards per punt.
There were eight scores in this game, and five of them were field goals. Lions kicker Matt Prater provided the first nine points of the game with field goals from 29, 41 and 51 yards in the second half. Raiders kicker Sebastian Janikowski responded with 48- and 56-yard field goals in the second half.
There were no scoring theatrics through the air, as Raiders running back Latavius Murray and Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford provided the game's only touchdowns with their legs. Although this game lacked points, it was a pretty clean game. There were no turnovers and less than 90 yards worth of called penalties.
The only other score was a safety, which gave the Lions two insurance points late in the game.
