Banks has workout for Seattle, no contract offer

Brian Banks, who was cleared of a rape conviction in May, participated in a workout with the Seattle Seahawks this week but came away without a contract offer.

Banks' agent, Bruce Tollner, confirmed the tryout on Friday. Banks was in a group including wide receivers Braylon Edwards and Antonio Bryant that worked out for coaches Thursday. Bryant was signed to the active roster Thursday night.

Banks, a linebacker, took part in Seattle's minicamp in June and had workouts with Kansas City and San Diego.

Banks served more than five years in prison following his conviction a decade ago on rape and kidnapping charges. The woman later recanted her claim and offered to help Banks get his conviction overturned. He was on probation when a judge threw out the conviction in May.
