This is a bold move for a very good Thunder team that held a 3-1 lead over the Warriors in the Western Conference finals before Golden State charged back to win the series. The trade may have been done to let Kevin Durant know that the franchise is doing everything it can to improve the roster, in advance of his free-agency decision in July.
Ibaka has played all seven of his NBA seasons with the Thunder, but his numbers have dipped in each of the past two. He averaged 12.8 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.9 blocked shots in 32.1 minutes, while starting in all 78 of his regular season appearances.
Oladipo, 24, is an athletic shooting guard who was the second overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. He averaged 16 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 33 minutes per game last season. Ilyasova, 29, has played eight NBA seasons, but averaged just 8.1 points and 5.5 rebounds in 22 appearances for the Magic last year.
Sabonis is Lithuanian-born and the son of Arvydas Sabonis, who had a strong international career before playing for the Portland Trail Blazers for seven seasons. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2011.
