Sixers one loss away from NBA record

Published Nov. 13, 2015 9:02 a.m. ET

It's no secret that the 76ers aren't good, and haven't been for quite some time. But they're about to set a record for being the worst to start consecutive seasons in NBA history.

Not great, Bob.

With a loss to Russell Westbrook and the Thunder on Friday night in Oklahoma City, the 0-8 Sixers would become the first team in the league's 66 years of existence to lose at least nine games to start consecutive seasons, according to basketball-reference.com.

The Sixers dropped 17 in a row to begin the 2014-15 campaign, which was one away from the NBA all-time record by the 2009-10 Nets.

The Sixers are tied with the 2001-02 Grizzlies (eight losses) and 2002-03 Grizzlies (12), and the 2011-12 Wizards (eight losses) and 2012-13 Wizards (12) with eight or more defeats to begin back-to-back seasons.
