The Las Vegas Superbook released its over/under win predictions yesterday. How did the Atlanta Hawks fare?

The countdown to the NBA season continues. We are now less than a week away before teams open up their training camps.

A sign that the season is creeping is when the Las Vegas Superbook releases its annual over/under win predictions for each team. There were plenty of interesting projections, but how did the Hawks fare?

43.5 wins. A 4.5 game difference from last season’s 48 wins. With the off-season moves and questions that go behind how they will fare without Al Horford and Jeff Teague, this prediction was pretty respectable.

The bigger question is how the Hawks compare to other Eastern Conference teams:

The Hawks round out in fifth place according to the predictions. Considering the unknown factors that this team is heading into this season, I’d say it’s a pretty respectable projection.

But this team also has many factors in which they could realistically battle for the fourth or even third place slot. If Dennis Schroder can become a calming floor general for this team similar to Teague and Dwight Howard can show glimpses of his dominant form, this team is going to give coaches nightmares.

There is the chance that this newly formed roster doesn’t work out as planned. But fortunately for the Hawks, they have one of the best coaches in the league in Mike Budenholzer. There aren’t many other coaches that you could choose and feel confident that they would be able to figure out the pieces to this puzzle.

Other Superbook Notes:

-There were only five teams projected to win 50+ games: Golden State, Cleveland, Boston, Los Angeles (Clippers), and San Antonio.

-The New York Knicks aka the Superteam of the East will miss out on the playoffs with a projected win total of 38.5. I expect to see another interesting Derrick Rose quote in the coming days.

-The Brooklyn Nets are projected to win a league worse 20.5 games. Linsanity can’t lead them to at least 25?! No, he can’t.

-Phoenix’s number was 26.5. Sorry, but with a backcourt that includes Eric Bledsoe, Devin Booker, and Brandon Knight, they are definitely winning the over on that one. Some even project them sneaking into the playoffs. I won’t go that far, but seeing them win 30-35 games won’t be surprising with their current roster.
