Rudy Gobert questionable against the Heat with ankle injury

Published Nov. 11, 2015 5:14 p.m. ET

The Utah Jazz nearly snatched a win from the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday. But the competitive contest came with a price, as Jazz center Rudy Gobert left the game with a what the team is calling a left ankle sprain.

Gobert did not practice Wednesday and is officially listed as questionable for Utah's Thursday game against the Miami Heat, according to Jazz radio broadcaster David Locke.

Gobert didn't seem particularly worried about the injury after Utah's loss to Cleveland, as he told reporters, "I think I should be good to go, if not tomorrow, in a few days. Nothing broken, nothing bad, so just a basketball sprained ankle."

Gobert is averaging 9.4 points, 12.8 rebounds and 3.4 blocks per game for Utah this season. The Jazz are among the NBA's leaders in defensive efficiency, although the game against the Cavaliers sent Utah from No. 1 on defense to No. 5, according to Basketball-Reference.
