In the least surprising news of the free agency period, Marc Gasol has reportedly re-signed with the Memphis Grizzlies on a five-year, $110 million max deal.

Gasol, 30, refused to take visits with other teams. That was the ultimate indication that he had no interest in moving on from the only team he has suited up for during his seven-year career.

The center averaged a career-high 17.4 points, 7.8 rebounds and nearly four assists per game while shooting 49 percent from the field in 2014-15.

By showing faith in the Grizzlies ability to contend moving forward, Gasol will continue to team up with Zach Randolph and Mike Conley to form a solid trio. The Grizzlies must now focus on adding a perimeter shooter to complement their beef up front. It remains to be seen if the addition of Matt Barnes will be enough.

Gasol’s deal will likely take him through his 35th birthday, which is an indication he very well may finish his NBA career where with the same team he first suited up for in 2008. That’s a rarity in today’s sports world.
