Report: Lakers could take Kristaps Porzingis with No. 2 pick
Ladies and gentlemen, there is a new draft prospect rocketing up big boards and making a run at the top three picks. His name is Kristaps Porzingis, he's from Latvia, and this is the draft workout that has people losing their minds:
And when you watch that video, you can understand why. The stepbacks, the smooth jumper, the handles, the ferocious dunks -- and all from a guy that size. It's really impressive. Oh, and Porzingis is just 19 years old; he turns 20 in August.
Could he really overtake players such as Jahlil Okafor, Emmanuel Mudiay and D'Angelo Russell as the No. 2 overall pick for the Los Angeles Lakers? His stock has been soaring over the end of last week and into the weekend, and ESPN NBA draft insider Chad Ford said on Twitter that not only could the Lakers select Porzingis with the second pick, but they should (assuming the Wolves take Karl-Anthony Towns):
As Harrison Faigen of Silver Screen and Roll notes, however, a frontline of Porzingis and Randle might not be the best fit; Porzingis lacks the bulk and Randle the height to combat true centers. On the other hand, if you watched Game 5 of the NBA Finals, you know that unorthodox lineups and unconventional skill sets can rule the day in today's NBA. Porzingis fits like a glove in the modern game. Will the Lakers take the risk?

He's worth it. If Towns goes to Minnesota, that's who the Lakers should take. https://t.co/SlWwYE85Yq
