Report: Heat 'reached out' to Dwyane Wade, Goran Dragic to start free agency

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, NBA fans of all ages, it is officially the time of year where hope springs eternal -- unless the face of your franchise is embroiled in contract negotiations, that is.
NBA free agency officially tipped off at midnight early Wednesday morning. And while there's no reason to expect a quick resolution between the Miami Heat and Dwyane Wade, there's more reason to be optimistic about the Heat coming to an agreement with Goran Dragic, who is reportedly "a lock" to re-sign with the team for next season.
And with free agency officially open, the Heat have reportedly reached out to both the Wade and Dragic camps, according to Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press. Reynolds also reports that Wade has met with Heat leadership twice over the past few days to discuss his future with the team.
Miami is undoubtedly hoping for a quick and painless resolution so that Pat Riley and the rest of the Heat front office can move to the task of bolstering the rest of the roster. The longer things drag out, the more difficult it could be for Miami to find value in the margins of free agency this summer, as the Wade situation would continue to draw the Heat's primary focus.
