Detroit Pistons guard Ben Gordon has undergone successful surgery to remove bone spurs from his left ankle.

The team said Wednesday that Gordon's ankle will be placed in a cast for three weeks and rehabilitation will begin immediately following its removal.

The procedure was performed at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital in the Detroit suburb of Pontiac.

The 6-foot-3 Gordon appeared in 62 games last season, his first with the Pistons after leaving Chicago. He averaged a career-low 13.8 points a game, hobbled much of the year by injuries, along with 2.7 assists and 1.9 rebounds.
