Pelicans' Anthony Davis says he'll play against Lakers

NEW ORLEANS (AP) New Orleans forward Anthony Davis says he'll return to the lineup against the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night after missing the Pelicans' past three games with a sprained big toe on his left foot.

Davis says he remains in pain from the injury, which occurred during a victory in Detroit on Jan. 14, but feels good enough to play.

The Pelicans are 1-3 this season without Davis, who averages 24.2 points, 10.4 rebounds and 2.9 blocks per game.

Pelicans starting guard Jrue Holiday, who's missed four straight games with a swollen right ankle, says his chances of playing against Los Angeles are ''slim'' after he rested during Wednesday morning's shoot-around.

The status of Lakers guard Kobe Bryant, who sat out Los Angeles' previous game at Phoenix, remains unclear.
