New York Knicks: Derrick Rose Not Focused on Return to Chicago

The New York Knicks will be facing the Chicago Bulls on Friday Night. Is point guard Derrick Rose worried about his return to Chicago?
The trade that brought Derrick Rose to the New York Knicks was one of the biggest moves of the offseason. It resulted in Rose leaving his hometown of Chicago for the bright lights of New York.
This being his first season away from Chicago, the return will surely be an emotional one on Friday for Rose. However, he hasn’t been thinking about it too much with the busy past few weeks that he has had both on and off the court.
“I haven’t been thinking about it, man,’’ Rose said to Marc Berman of the New York Post. “Only when probably it’s game day, I’ll think about it. There’s no bad blood there either. I understand this is a business. They made a business decision. On my end, I just got to stay prepared.”
In addition to trading Rose, the Bulls also let Joakim Noah walk in free agency this offseason. So far the Bulls are off to a good start with Rajon Rondo and Dwyane Wade, but Rose isn’t focused on what the new players are doing in Chicago.
“I haven’t paid them no mind — none,’’ Rose said to Berman. “I’m focused on what I have here. That stuff with Chicago is in the past.”
It has been a really solid start to the season for Rose with the Knicks. So far, Rose has brought a lot of energy and athleticism to the point guard position, as he has shown the ability to get to the basket with ease. It has been a very impressive showing thus far for Rose, as he did miss a lot of the preseason due to his court trial.
“I’m just catching my second wind,’’ Rose said to Berman. “Being out there for two weeks, I was talking to the staff how I was working out every day and running. I came back and I was surprised I was in decent shape. The experience I’ve had for the short time I’ve been here is unreal.’’ “[We need] 20 to 25 games to see where we’re at,’’ Rose said. “After those games go by, we should by then have an identity.’’
The Knicks do have another game to play before they face the Bulls on Friday night, as they will be hosting the Houston Rockets on Wednesday night. There has been some ups and downs early on for the Knicks, but that is to be expected with all of the new players that they have. With a healthy Rose, however, the Knicks will be in a great position to compete this season when the team gels.
