Nets sign free-agent forward Blatche

The Brooklyn Nets signed free-agent forward Andray Blatche on Wednesday.
Terms of the contract weren't disclosed.
The 6-foot-11 Blatche averaged 8.5 points and 5.8 rebounds in 26 games last season for the Washington Wizards. He missed the final 40 games because of a calf injury.
Washington waived Blatche in July, designating him as the team's amnesty player. The move enabled the Wizards to remove the $23 million remaining on Blatche's contract from their salary cap.
In seven seasons with Washington, Blatche averaged 9.9 points and 5.4 rebounds. He had his best season in 2010-11, averaging 16.8 points and 8.2 rebounds.
His time with the team was marked by off-court problems.
Blatche was shot during a carjacking attempt in September 2005, was arrested in 2007 for soliciting sex from an undercover police officer, and was suspended for a game in December 2010 for brawling with teammate JaVale McGee outside a Washington nightclub. In January 2010, then-coach Flip Saunders suspended Blatche for a game after he was belligerent with the coaching staff.
