NBA GMs: Timberwolves will have this year's top breakout player
It's that time of year again, time for the NBA's annual general manager survey. The poll goes in depth on just about every category you can imagine. And the league's GMs decided to pay a little dap to the Timberwolves during the whole process.
Below are the top five vote getters for which player is most likely to have a breakout season in 2015-16:
1. Andrew Wiggins, Minnesota -- 17.2 percent
2. Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee -- 13.8 percent
3. Bradley Beal, Washington -- 10.3 percent
3. Jabari Parker, Milwaukee -- 10.3 percent
5. Anthony Davis, New Orleans -- 6.9 percent
Shabazz Muhammad also received a vote in the category.
Before we actually get to Wiggins leading, let's ask this one question: How the heck can Anthony Davis be most likely to break out? How could anyone pick that? In what world has a dude who averaged 24 & 10 and finished top-six in MVP voting last year not broken out?
OK, now onto Wiggins, the reigning Rookie of the Year. The second-year forward is as strong a choice as any to break out, especially considering he averaged 19.2 points per game on 46 percent shooting after Dec. 22 last year. Add his wonderful summer performance playing for Team Canada during the FIBA Americas tournament and assumed improvement, and Wiggins could jump into the spotlight at just 20 years old.
