Mutombo memorabilia up for grabs

I can’t honestly say that I’ve ever seen the reality show Storage Wars, but apparently the idea is that buyers on the show bid on other people’s abandoned or unpaid storage units at auction with little to no information about the contents therein.

One would imagine that this kind of thing could lead to some pretty interesting, and sometimes lucrative finds, but I’m not sure anyone has ever taken home a haul as cool as fascinating as Adrian Petrus, who paid $300 at a storage auction in Maryland and ended up with a unit full of Dikembe Mutombo memorabilia.

According to TMZ, the unit belonged to one of Mutombo's brothers, who missed several rental payments after returning to the Congo following his father's death.

TMZ reports that the unit was "packed full of Mutombo items," including "signed basketballs, shoes, jerseys, trading cards and photos of Dikembe with celebs like Michael Jackson and Nelson Mandela."

The site has a photo gallery of Petrus’ haul, and Petrus told TMZ that he reached out to Mutombo to try to make a deal to return the items, but after not hearing back, he now plans to sell them on eBay.

I can’t say for sure what I’d do if I came across a storage unit full of Dikembe Mutombo memorabilia, but I can definitely tell you where I wouldn’t want the stuff:
